The TSA-3PC is used to provide a simple and inexpensive method of connecting supervisory monitoring equipment to the handset circuit of a telephone. It is usable on most telephone styles which have a standard modular handset or headset jack and provides isolated and adjustable audio output that can be set to a weak level for use with microphone (MIC) input circuits, or the audio output can be turned up for use with Auxiliary level input circuits.Works great with PC sound cards. No external power is required.

The TSA-3PC is supplied with cables and connectors that have been wired to meet most standard applications. It can be customized to meet unusual requirements. Consult your place of purchase if cables are required with non-standard lengths, connections, or circuitry. On the back of this instruction sheet is a drawing that shows a typical installation.

1. Unplug the handset cord from your telephone set and plug it into the jack on the TSA-3PC adapter.

2. Plug the short TSA-3PC cable into the handset jack on your phone. Your telephone should now function normally as you have simply connected a short extension into the handset cord.

3. The long TSA-3PC cable can now be connected to your supervisory equipment (cassette recorder, monitor amplifier, Computer Sound Card, etc). The TSA-3PC couples the handset audio through an isolation transformer and adjustable attenuation circuitry so that you will be able to monitor conversations on the phone at microphone level. Both sides of all conversations on the handset or headset that is plugged into the TSA-3PC can be monitored. If your telephone does not use standard connections, the unit may have to be re-wired so that the recorder is connected to the correct wires.

If your monitoring equipment interferes with the operation of your phone in any way, or if your monitoring equipment is not designed to be connected to your telephone in this manner, a different means of interconnection may be required.

4. The TSA-3PC has a small screwdriver adjustment for the audio output level. Normally this control is set at the mid-range position. If your monitoring equipment requires a stronger signal, turn the small blue control clockwise with a flat blade screwdriver. If you require weaker audio, turn the control down (counter-clockwise).

5. Locate a convenient spot on your phone to mount the TSA-3PC. Insure that there is enough slack in the cables so that they can be easily unplugged, if required, and that it will not interfere with the operation of the phone. Use the double stick foam tape and cable ties which are included with each TSA-3PC to attach it to your phone.
